Since 2017, the PCA Foundation has produced a generosity devotional as a tool for churches to encourage generosity among members. In the past, the Foundation has commissioned teaching elders to write the devotional or licensed it from Christian publishers. This year, the Foundation has partnered with Sola Media to create “The Gifts of God.”
Founded in 1990 by theologian Dr. Michael Horton, Sola Media “serves today’s global church by producing resources for reformation grounded in the historic Christian faith.” Its content includes articles, podcasts, and print resources through initiatives like White Horse Inn, Know What You Believe, Core Christianity, Modern Reformation, Theo Global, and the kids podcast Tell Me a Story.
“In this devotional, we want to help you think about the different ways God has given you all the resources you need for life and godliness,” said Tim Townsend, president of the PCA Foundation. “I’m thankful for our friends at Sola Media who have provided the content this year.”
This year’s devotional is authored by candidates and elders connected to the PCA and Sola Media. The five-day devotional focuses on different aspects of God’s gifts.
- Day 1: “The Free Gift” by Isaac Fox, a graduate of Westminster Seminary California.
- Day 2: “The Gift of Assurance” by Eric Landry, chief content officer of Sola Media and senior pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Austin, Texas.
- Day 3: “The Gift of the Sacraments” by Caleb Wait, director of content for Sola Media.
- Day 4: “A Gift for Troubled Times” by Robert Olson, president and CEO of Sola Media and a ruling elder in the PCA.
- Day 5: “Gifts for the Future” by Brannon Ellis, executive editor of Modern Reformation.
The Foundation invites churches to visit its website and order copies of the devotional for their congregation at no charge. Translations are also available in Korean and Spanish. Commissioners to the PCA’s General Assembly will be provided a complimentary copy.
